Google Wallet was designed with the purpose of letting people pay at stores using an application in their phones, and hence eliminating the security risks associated with carrying paper or plastic money. In that context, it would be quite ironic if these rumors about Google Wallet turn out to be true. Android Police received an anonymous tip about Google Wallet, along with a bunch of screenshots to help make the case. The leak shows that Google is working on a physical form of Google Wallet, because NFC readers are not as common with retailers as one would like. If this turn out to be true, then Google will be making a proper entry into the banking sector, having perhaps lost or given up on the original vision for Google Wallet.
