Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S III Mini, a more compact version of its flagship Galaxy S III smartphone. The specs are pretty much what had been leaked earlier, and confirm that this is no chip off the old block - the Galaxy S III Mini is powered by a dual-core 1GHz NovaThor U8420 processor, and has a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, 8/16 GB of internal memory with support for expandable memory. It has a 5 megapixel camera that can capture 720p video, and a secondary VGA camera and is equipped with a 1,500 mAh battery. On the software front, it runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), the latest version of Android and packs mosts of the features found on the S III, like S Beam, Smart Alert, Direct Call, and more.
The specs are comparable to the Galaxy S Advance, which currently retails for under Rs. 19,500 in India. However, the pre-order price in the UK is £298, which could mean that the S III mini is likely to have a launch price of around Rs. 25,000. We'll keep you posted on any official details on launch dates, pre-orders and price. Stay tuned.
